The shape of the funnel is organic in origin. It is inspired by the shape of fossils and encrustations found in underground caverns. The fountains and spas of ancient Rome inspired the fluid flow formation.
The funnel has a false bottom so that when wine is poured, it will exit through weep holes on the sides of the funnel. As the wine flows down the outside walls of the funnel, it creates a beautiful candy cane effect whilst aerating the wine.
